So you can imagine my reaction when, out of the blue, my agent asked, “Would you like to write Star Wars?”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eNot one book, but; not alone, but with two other writers, and only writing the 2\u003csup\u003end\u003c\/sup\u003e, 3\u003csup\u003erd\u003c\/sup\u003e, and 4\u003csup\u003eth\u003c\/sup\u003e books of a world that had \u003cspan style=\"color: rgb(255, 42, 0);\"\u003e30+ years\u003c\/span\u003e of telling its own stories. Thanks to Troy Denning and the late Aaron Allston, somehow we did it.\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e---\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eReally fun fact: Wynn Dorvan was introduced because early on, Troy Denning, whose books were published after mine, wanted one of Daala’s assistants to have a pet chitlik. It was supposed to be a one-off bit. So I created a middle-age, middle-management bureaucrat who kept a chitlik in his pocket. However, as we wrote, we all found we really enjoyed the character’s deadpan, quiet brilliance and loyalty, and his adorable connection to Pocket. \u003cspan style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003eGonna share a spoiler…things worked out so that, kind of a surprise to all of us, Wynn Dorvan ended up being the best choice for Chief of State at the end of the series!
